Free contractor invoice template
An invoice that gets paid faster says exactly what it’s for, what’s already been paid, what’s left, when it’s due and how to pay it. This one does all five — and the spreadsheet works out the balance for you.
Free. No email, no account.
What a good one includes
- What the invoice is for
- The job, the period or the stage it bills — “Deposit”, “Progress: framing complete”, “Final”.
- Line items that match the estimate
- The same lines the client approved, so nothing on the bill is a surprise.
- Payments already received
- Show the deposit and earlier payments, and the balance after them. Clients pay a number they can check.
- A due date
- Net 15, net 30, due on receipt — say which, as a date.
- How to pay
- Every way you accept payment, spelled out. The easier it is, the sooner it happens.
Or skip the paperwork
The approved estimate becomes the invoice, the client pays from a link, and the reminders send themselves.
Questions
Is this template free?
Yes — the spreadsheet and the PDF are free, no email or account needed.
Does it calculate the balance due?
Yes. Lines total themselves, tax is added from your rate, and payments received come off to give the balance due.
What should my payment terms be?
That’s your call and your contract’s. State the terms and the due date on every invoice so there’s nothing to interpret.
What does Partner add?
Partner turns the approved estimate into the invoice in one click, lets the client pay by card or bank transfer from a link, and sends the reminders for you.
