What people ask before they switch
Does Partner include payroll?
Yes — payroll runs inside Partner off the hours your crew already tracked, covering hourly, salary, and piece-rate pay. It also produces the paperwork public work needs: WH-347 certified payroll per project, plus Form 941, Form 940, W-2 and state unemployment worksheets whose lines mirror the official forms. Partner prepares those worksheets for you to file or check against; it does not e-file on your behalf.
Do subcontractors need an account to use Partner?
No. A sub opens their portal from a private link — no account, no password, nothing to install. From there they see the jobs they have been invited to bid, submit a bid, message you, confirm schedule dates, and pull their own 1099-NEC worksheet. Subcontractor and client viewers are unlimited on every plan and never take up a paid seat.
Can I import my data from Buildertrend or Procore?
Yes. Export your lists as CSV and drop the files into the import wizard together: it identifies each file by its column headers, imports them in dependency order, and reports any row it cannot place rather than guessing. Partner ships step-by-step export guides for Procore and Buildertrend, and a plain spreadsheet from any other system works the same way. Your data stays exportable — a full CSV export is available at any time.
Is Partner’s pricing published, or do I have to book a demo?
Every price is on the pricing page. Starter is $299/mo and Growth is $799/mo billed annually, Professional is $1999/mo billed annually, and Enterprise is quoted. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial with full access, and there is no implementation or onboarding fee — you set yourself up, with sample data to explore.
Can AI tools connect to Partner?
Yes. Partner is an MCP server at /api/mcp, so an MCP-capable assistant can work with your data directly. You mint a connector token in Settings → AI Connector: a read-scoped token can query projects, estimates, invoices, A/R aging, WIP, job costing, and the schedule, and a write-scoped token can also create clients, tasks, and service tickets. Drafting an estimate is deliberately staged — the agent proposes it into an inbox inside Partner and a person applies or dismisses it. Every call runs under the permissions of the user who minted the token and lands in the audit trail.
Does Partner’s AI send estimates to clients on its own?
No. AI drafts, a person approves. Estimates drafted from plans, photos, or a description arrive as a draft you review, edit, and price against your own catalog, and a proposal only reaches a client when you send it.
What is PAO, and why does it show up in the comparison?
PAO is Proactively Adjusted Overhead — a live overhead rate calculated from your own recorded overhead against your sales, and loaded into every estimate. It is applied as an internal cost, not a line added to the client’s price, so the margin math judges what a job really earns rather than what a number you guessed once says it earns. It updates as your receipts, vehicles, and policies change.
